Meet the team that bought Kinbrolds to life!
|
Hello I’m Evelyn! Along with my creative group, I helped construct our game, Kinbrolds: Field of Kings and I hope you all enjoy this game as much as we enjoyed creating it. Creating this game and centralizing the growing issue of deforestation was important to me because I live in a region that would drastically change if it is affected by deforestation. North Georgia is a place defined by its environmental characteristics which is why it is so important to protect these natural ecosystems. Without a regulation on deforestation, state parks, forest hikes and trials, and outdoor activities would not be possible if the natural environment is replaced by factories, shopping centers, and commercial businesses. And since these are places and activities that I enjoy in my hometown, it’s an issue that I will always bring awareness to. Incorporating this issue into our world was an exciting process that I thoroughly enjoyed since I grew up loving the fantasy genre and its reflection in medieval worlds. From a young age, reading books like the Lightning Thief and discovering the adventure and magic that is found in books was the start of my love for reading fantasy. Just like the rest of my creative group, our love for reading is reflected in the format of Kinbrolds: Field of Kings since it is designed as a telltale game where players have the option to choose different storylines that change depending on their decisions in the game. That being said, I hope you all enjoy playing this game and find the issue at hand a problem to be prioritized as much as my group and I do.
My name is Laura Uhlig, and as one of the creators of this game I hope to not disappoint. Kinbrolds: Field of Kings has been a passion of mine for many months now while my team and I have worked tirelessly to make this project come alive. As a child I was always searching for ways to escape my own life. Being an only child meant that I had to find ways to keep myself entertained. My small family taught me many things, but most importantly it pushed me to find places and people that felt like home, that was where books came in. Fantasy books were how I kept myself busy. They took me to places one could only dream of, and introduced me to people that molded and changed who I was. With that it was crucial for our game to be an escape for others, who like me, needed a place to call their own. Over the years I have read many different forms of fantasy books, from Harry Potter to the Hobbit. For this project I have taken inspiration from all of them to create something that not only transports the player to another world, but that also brings people together in a way no other game has.
Hey, everyone! I am Thomas Jones, one of the primary contributors to Kinbrolds, Field of Kings. I am passionate about many things, ranging from racial and gender equality to sustainability. As you probably already know by now, Kinbrolds intends to display the largely negative impact of deforestation and its implications. By producing this intricate game, I hope change is a result of it. As a child, I was always fascinated with nature, its beauty, and its precious “nature.” Get it? Novels such as The Chronicles of Narnia and A Wrinkle in Time got me interested in the idea of world-building and game-building. My passion for world-building and nature brought about Kinbrolds. I hope this game is not only interesting and interactive for you as a consumer, but world-changing. After all, if we do not make a change to put an end to deforestation, we will all be in great danger. As human-beings, we will have nowhere to go if our Earth is not carefully taken care of. As a graduate of an art’s school, I am passionate about merging my love for the arts with the idea of a game such as Kinbrolds, and am open to collaborating with other artists to promote such a world-changing game like Kinbrolds.
What’s up everybody, thanks for checking out Kinbrolds! I’m Addison Vakiener and I am a member of the Kinbrolds team. While I did help with the creative and world design aspects of Kinbrolds, I would say my specialty for the team was my input as an avid fan of video games. I like playing them of course, but I have genuine interest in all aspects of video games from the world design, to the soundtracks and the game mechanics. Working on this project specifically was a great opportunity as well because fantasy and neomedival games are some of my personal favorites. I have played all the greats from the Dark Souls series, The Witcher, Skyrim and even the not so greats that do not need to be mentioned here. The point is that I know a good neomedival game when I see one so using that expertise was vital for our game. Another aspect of Kinbrolds that is important to me personally is the advocacy work we communicated through the game. We wanted to help tackle deforestation with our game, and being able to examine it from a materialist angle and focus on how corporations contribute to it was something that I wanted to impress through the gameplay. As someone critical of economic greed and exploitation, I am happy with the final product and I hope you are too!
