- What tasks they would like to complete first
- Tasks will progressively increase in difficulty and risk as the storyline advances
- Begin to embark on quests as your character to earn points, such as:
- Farming magic from the trees
- Fighting (between noble guards and forest dwellers)
- Trading between the two sides
- Extra points obtained if when trading with a citizen from Avarincia they become sympathetic to your cause

Game Basics
- You are taken through a story in 3rd person, where you make choices in what your character says and does
- Based on your choices, the story molds and changes
- Your decisions affect the quests you go on. Available quests will appear in yellow on the Kinbrolds map as you progress through the game.
- The objective of the game is to save as many trees from being cut down and convert as many nobles as possible
- Nobles are converted based on automated prompts that you (the player) are given to choose from. If you select the correct prompt, and are convincing, a noble is converted. You are guaranteed that you will never get the same prompt, as there are many ways in which you can respond to a noble.
- The ultimate goal in the game is to either convert as many nobles as possible to avoid a full out war or if that fails, win the war between the forest dwellers and the kingdom of Avarincia.
- Game ends with the same book from the beginning closing
- Throughout the story players are able to donate to deforestation programs, while also learning important facts and statistics about the issue
HUD Display
- How many trees have been saved in the bottom right corner, and how many have been lost in the bottom left corner
- How many nobles converted in the bottom right corner, as well
- Your character (or avatar) in the top right corner
- Tapping on your avatar will also allow for further customization throughout the game
- Character features will be unlocked as more points are collected
- How much ‘health’ remaining in the top left corner
- Health is obtained by separating time so your character can eat, rest, and maintain hygiene
Controls (depending on format – computer or mobile app)
Computer:
- There are mainly mouse controls for general movement and prompt/menu selections
- During quests or events, keyboard prompts can appear based on the action
- Use the circle in the bottom right corner to move (forward, left, right, backward)
- A keyboard will appear when needed in the game, but will disappear after it is used
- To approach a noble, click the button that has a figure dressed in a crown and a shiny gown. This will initiate a conversation.
- Your primary actions are saving trees and converting nobles
- You can convert a noble by going over the trading river by bringing awareness and picking an automated prompt to convince a noble.
- You can save trees by approaching a noble and talking to them, or stopping them and using your powers (determined by what character you initially choose)
- Dwarves posses a power to temporarily* steal the axes from the nobles.
- Fairies possess magical dust that can slow down a noble and place them in a temporary* daze.
- Humans possess a power to fight the nobles off temporarily* with the sword they are given.
Menus
- Players interact with Kinbrolds mainly through button prompts and other onscreen elements. This means there is only one main menu screen that the player accesses, but from this menu there are other submenus
- To access the main pause menu press the escape key or click the little gear symbol in the stop right
- This menu gives you four options: continue, customize, settings, and quit to main menu
- The continue button closes the pause menu and returns you back to the game
- The customize menu opens up a screen where you can then customize your character with different cosmetics that you have unlocked.
- This menu is divided into different categories based on the slot the cosmetics use, for example the head slot has selections of hats and the chest slot can change your character’s shirt
- The settings menu opens up a menu of different options that affect different aspects of the game
- Consists of options like brightness for visual settings
- Game sounds and volume for audio
- Hovering over each setting will give a brief description of what it affects
- The final option quit to main menu exits you out from the game to the title screen
